Dear Laura,
June of '09 was a better month for us. On the 9th, Mommy went to see the OB/GYN. Your heartbeat sounded good. Mommy's blood tests came back postitive for Trisomy 21 and negative for Trisomy 18. But it still wasn't set in stone because an amnio is the only thing that "confirms" a diagnosis but even those things are wrong sometimes despite what doctors will tell you.
On the 24th, Mommy went back to see the specialist. And he actually had GOOD news to bring to us this time. By this time, he was the bad guy to me. Ok, I know he was just doing his job, but still.....
Anyway, during this ultrasound, we found out that the fluid that was previously found on your lungs was gone, the calcification in your bowels was less, and they saw all 4 chambers in your heart which they couldn't see before. We were walking on cloud nine. We were so happy because we knew that God was answering our prayers.
On the 28th, Mommy got the test results back from her second trimester blood test and it came back as a 1 in 110 chance for Down syndrome which was great considering it was 1 in 93 the month before :) So things were starting to look better for you and we were sooo happy!
But we still had to just wait it out......
I love you to the moon and back 1,000 times x 10!
Love,
Sissy

It just occurred to me that with my second screen they never told me what it read for DS. I knew my numbers for spina bifida and the other Trisomies, but not T21. What an ommision by my doctor! However, we still wouldn't have tested, so I guess it would have been irrelevant.
