One last birthday alone

Dear Autumn,

Today is your 3rd birthday. I had this uneasy feeling inside of me all day. I kept feeling like I needed to say "Happy Birthday" to you, but yet I couldn't because you were nowhere to be found. It made me so sad that I couldn't wrap my arms around you and give you a hug. We couldn't throw you a birthday party, order you a cake, and blow up your balloons. We couldn't sing you "Happy Birthday" as we watch you clap and smile as we bring your cake to you.

Sweet baby girl, I hope this is your last birthday spent alone in an orphanage. The thought of you being all alone is so hard. The thought of you being alone on a day that should be celebrated absolutely breaks my heart.

We are working so hard to bring you home, I promise. Almost all of the paperwork is done. We just need the money. I beg our friends to help us bring you home. Some help and some don't. Some care and some don't.
